Runnymede Rd

This has been a truly ambitious and exciting project for AKM Builders and AKM Bespoke, spanning a whole year.

We began works in late November 2024, with the clients placing full trust in us by handing over possession of their property and moving out for the duration of the build.

They were able to return to their newly refurbished and remodelled home in December 2025, with only second-fix and snagging works scheduled for completion in early 2026.

Very little of the original property remains, aside from a few existing walls, which meant that we had a chance to create a truly bespoke interior for our clients.

We have literally created an exceptional living space from floor to ceiling and wall to wall. By far our biggest project to date, and more importantly our clients are as happy with the result as we are.

Our First Bespoke Staircase

Our client sought to relocate the existing staircase to maximise space and create an open-plan living area with a striking double-height ceiling and mezzanine level.

This required the design of a bespoke staircase positioned within the hallway—one that would complement the home’s

modern aesthetic while maintaining a light footprint to preserve the sense of openness and vertical space.

Working closely with the client’s architect, we developed a contemporary steel mono-stringer staircase featuring solid wooden treads and frameless glass balustrades.

AKM Bespoke manufactured and installed the staircase precisely to specification. The result is a refined, architectural centrepiece spanning three floors, delivering visual impact while minimising spatial intrusion across the hallway and landings.

Open Plan Living

This project centred on transforming the home into a striking open-plan kitchen, lounge, and dining space, defined by volume, light, and architectural clarity. The introduction of an atrium ceiling and mezzanine balcony creates a dramatic sense of height, while frameless glass balustrades maintain uninterrupted sightlines and a seamless flow between levels.

At the heart of the space sits a bespoke, double-sided media wall with an integrated fireplace—serving as both a functional divider and a refined focal point. The result is a contemporary living environment that balances warmth and minimalism, delivering a cohesive space designed for both

everyday living and elevated entertaining.

Snug

Our client wanted to transform an unused reception room into a warm and inviting snug where the family could relax. We took it back to a bare shell with exposed blockwork and ceiling joists. This became a fully designed and meticulously crafted living area, tailored to their lifestyle.

Working closely with the client, we created a bespoke media wall featuring integrated shelving, ambient lighting and a statement fireplace, all designed to bring balance and symmetry to the room.
